Once MedScan finds the 8-digit Drug Identification Number (DIN), you will hear a beep. The app will read out the purpose and name of the medication for you. It works like those price scanners in Walmart.
You can find a demo on YouTube here and instructions.
It can speak 75 languages (English, French, Spanish, Chinese, including regional variations such as Mandarin/Cantonese, Punjabi/Hindi/Tamil/Gujarati/Urdu and others. )
So, the read-out is easy to understand for the 10 million Canadians whose first languages are not English or French. You can find the full list here.
*** Reminder: Always follow your doctor's guidance. This tool makes it easier for us to verify the bottles only. ***
